Would you know what to do if a child in your care needed first aid?
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires early years providers in England to have at least one person who has a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and available at all times when children are present. Providers should also take into account the number of children, staff and layout of the premises and increase their paediatric first aid provision accordingly to ensure that a paediatric first aider is available to respond to emergencies quickly.
The QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) has been specifically designed to meet the criteria set by the Department for Education's EYFS Framework and is ideal for:
- Those who have gained a Level 2 and/or Level 3 Childcare qualification and have entered into an early years settting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with EYFS requirements
- Registered childminders and assistants who are required to hold a current and full paediatric first aid certificate in order to comply with the EYFS requirement
- Anyone who has a non-professional involvement with infants and children, such as parents, grandparents and want to learn key paediatric first aid skills
Successful candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider, and will be equipped with the necessary skills to administer safe and effective treatment when dealing with a range of paediatric first aid situations.
Newly qualified entrants to an early years setting who have completed a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification on or after 30th June 2016, must also have either a full paediatric first aid or emergency paediatric first aid certificate within three months of starting work.

The QA Level 4 Award in Immediate Life Support (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility at work, or in a community or voluntary activities to provide emergency care to patients, such as medical providers, emergency ambulance personnel, registered healthcare professionals and those working in specialist roles within the emergency services and military.
Successful candidates will develop their knowledge and skills in providing immediate life saving support to patients in cardirespiratory arrest or experiencing life-threatening illness or injury.

The QA Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Oxygen (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who are responsible for providing care to casualties where the administration of emergency oxygen may be required.
Over a half day period, candidates will learn about the clinical need for emergency oxygen and the safety considerations of this, as well as how to administer emergency oxygen when dealing with a range of conditions.
Successful candidates will leave the course with the knowledge and skills needed to administer emergency oxygen both safely and effectively.
Achievement of the qualification confirms candidates have met both the theoretical and practical requirements, however, it does not imply a "license to practice" - the scope of practice is determined by the organisation responsible for oxygen provision. This qualification does not allow candidates to obtain, store or administer oxygen without clinical governance.

Would you know how to react in the event of a terrorist attack?
Whenever there is a shooting, stabbing or bomb explosion, the initial priority is understandably to ensure public safety, which can unfortunately cause delays to the emergency services being able to reach the injured.
The QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF) has been specifically developed to help members of the public learn life-saving skills for use in these extreme situations. Based on the citizenAID phone app and pocket guide, this regulated qualification is designed to teach people how to react safely, prioritise the injured and give first aid to victims in the event of a deliberate multiple casualty incident.
During this 3 hour course, candidates will have the opportunity to practice techniques for dealing with catastrophic bleeding and will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to save lives in the aftermath of a terrorist attack.

- Determining the appropriate actions to take in the following events, using the citizenAID App or pocket guide
(knife attacker or active shooter, exploded bomb, unattended & suspicious item, acid & vehicle attacks)

The QA Level 2 Award for Community First Responders (RQF) is ideal for those who are currently performing as, or aspiring to perform as, a community first responder. Regulated and nationally recognised, this qualification has been specifically designed to provide Learners with the knowledge and skills needed to administer initial emergency care at life-threatening incidents prior to the arrival of further medical assistance.
During this 2 day course, Learners will gain the necessary skills associated with the assessment, treatment and stabilisation of patients at life-threatening incidents
